The carbon steel gets transformed under extreme heat and pressure that case hardens and bonds the surface, reducing the ability for moisture to collect and rust to form. It is then pre-seasoned with food-safe oils that condition the metal for an extra boost of rust-resistance and a natural, easy-release cooking surface right out of the box. No use of coatings means you can use metal tools to flip, press and scrape without worry. It reaches over 500 deg F and heats evenly for consistently cooked food across the cooktop. Plus, adjustable feet let you level the griddle on uneven surfaces, and an expandable stand (sold separately) makes the Slate® Tabletop Griddle ideal for using at home, camping, tailgating and more.
