The battery powered smoke and carbon monoxide detector (two AA batteries included), model 900-CUDR-V-CA, is equipped with self-testing components that are always checking to make sure the alarm is on and working. This smoke and carbon monoxide detector combo helps protect you and your family from two dangerous threats fire and carbon monoxide (CO) in one device. Additionally, the included mounting bracket makes installation quick and easy. Battery-powered smoke detectors, like this model, provide reliable detection even during power outages, for extra peace of mind. This is a photoelectric smoke alarm, meaning it may better detect the larger, visible fire particles that are associated with slow smoldering fires. Industry experts recommend using both photoelectric smoke detectors, like this one, and ionization smoke detectors which may better detect smaller, less visible fire particles, like those that are associated with fast-flaming fires. Install both types throughout your house for comprehensive smoke and fire detection. Carbon Monoxide: The LED will flash and four short alarm beeps will sound. This continues until the smoke & carbon monoxide alarm is reset or the CO is eliminated. Fire: The red LED will flash and be accompanied by three long alarm beeps. The alarm will repeat this pattern until the unit is reset or smoke is eliminated. Alarm Memory: The green LED will blink once every 16 seconds to alert the user when the smoke detector-carbon monoxide detector combo has sounded in the recent past (like if it goes off when you're not at home). If the alarm has detected abnormal levels of smoke since its last test, it will produce three rapid beeps. Low Battery: One chirp and the LED will flash red. This pattern will continue every minute for the first hour. After the first hour, the red LED will flash once every minute accompanied by the chirp sound.
